Writing, Editing, and Project Management

Just the facts, ma’am. That’s what we want, but we are stuck in a world of stories. In fact, our brains are wired for storytelling so tell your story in a way that is authentic and truthful. Tell your story in plain language so that you can be understood. Tell your story to different audiences. You’ve done the work, now tell the story.

Science writing doesn’t have to be boring

Many scientists were taught that writing about science has to be dry and impersonal. We were taught never to use the first person and to convey only the facts. However, the titans of science knew, either consciously or unconsciously, that science was about story, they knew that people are drawn to stories, and so they told their stories in a way that people would understand.

I believe that every scientist has a story to tell, and that behind every scientist is the drive to discover. I want to help you write your story and to share what drives you. Whether you need help with a manuscript, a grant, or a biosketch, I want to help you write a better story.

Through feedback on grammar, structure, and content, we will work together to customize your story. I will offer opinions, advice, and honest feedback, all in service of making sure you have a clear message. We may hate it, but we all have to sell ourselves; however, we can do it with honesty and integrity. We are scientists. We have stories to tell.

Write stories that actually reflect what you do!
